Emotion Management – Hiding it is fatal
Understanding the feelings of others is as important as expressing emotions for success on the job. This is difficult because there is no language for emotions and not everyone can describe their feelings well in words. It is common to see people expressing feelings of anger and stress at the workplace. Another difficulty is that in professional life people train themselves in such a way that their emotions are not revealed. But hiding emotions can be harmful in the long run. This work can be learned gradually. One method is to think of what to say when something big emotional comes up. What word would be good for that? If excited about a new job, advertise it. Even just telling someone that they are impressed by your work will get them across. In this way, just say that if you don’t feel like working today, the conversation will start. Your feelings will come out in question-answer and some solution will be found.
